Oktopus

The Project

Sprint on the theme “Mobility” ⎮ April 2018

This digital innovation exercise aimed at designing a platform strategy for the world of mobility within a 8 hours timeframe. A core element of the brief is the business model. Our team created Oktopus, a MaaS platform offering a single and universal mobility pass.

This project was initially carried out in French.

The Process

We started quickly by narrowing down our theme mobility to the experience of transportation, then identifying pain points in our personal transport experiences. A team of Parisians, we imagined if our Pass Navigo (the Parisian mobility pass that enable free movement within the large Paris metropolitan region) could bring us on holidays.

Starting from the concept of a universal mobility pass and centralisation of mobility purchases, we then developed the functioning of the platform with a platform design canvas.

The Design

We organised the concept first by mapping its ecosystem. We then developed a motivation matrix which enabled us to imagine all possible interactions between the numerous stakeholders of mobility and make sure each would have an interest in the platform. Each possible relationship between actors was then flesh out to understand what was exchanged between these actors, where was the value they gained and which channels were the most appropriate. Thinking about the platform as an experience above all, we mapped the different steps each actors would take on

the platform, as well as the challenges they may encounter and specific needs they may have when evolving from onboarding, to getting better, to being fully engaged.

Finally, all these intermediary steps form part of our final proposal and helped us creating the platform business model canvas for Oktopus.

The outcome of this sprint was turned into a leaflet presenting the concept from a business point of view.
